Cohasset, MA - March 10, 2020 -- First-time candidate, Meg Wheeler, a Democrat from Cohasset, launches Elected, a new weekly podcast offering a real-time behind-the-scenes look into her experience running for office as a woman. The podcast features a week-by-week chronicle of Meg’s journey as she challenges a Republican incumbent for State Senate.
“I want women to know what it’s really like to run for office,” says Wheeler, “because we need more women in positions of power. I created Elected to empower more women to run, to dispel myths about campaigning and to help women overcome their fears about seeking public office.”
Elected explores common campaign issues shared by the sisterhood of women running for office, through Meg’s own personal journey. Energized by the women who have already stepped up to run, conversations include why Meg decided to run, what it’s like to be a working mom running for office and the challenges of running, such as fundraising as a first-time candidate, juggling your full-time job with campaigning and how the national political climate influences her own run for office at the state level. Future episodes will feature questions from listeners as well.
“This is a story that needs to be told and more women need to hear,” says Sam Kelley, Meg’s Campaign Manager and co-host of the podcast. Listeners can tune in on their favorite podcasting platform and listen, subscribe for weekly updates and submit questions at electedpodcast.com.
